After the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Home Ministry has announced to conduct a civil mock drill in India on 7 May. Mock drills will be conducted in about 244 districts of the country. The purpose of which is to train the citizens of the country to deal with emergency situations. The last civil security mock drill in India was conducted in 1971. Let’s know what is a mock drill? And when is it conducted.

In view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the central government has ordered to conduct mock drills in India. According to which tomorrow i.e. on 7 May 2025, the citizens of India will be given training (mock drill) to avoid air strikes. 244 districts have been identified for this.

What is a Mock Drill?

In simple language, mock drill is the training given to the citizens of the country to avoid air strikes and aerial bombing. How people take themselves to a safe place without wasting time in the event of war. In which the safety of children, women and the elderly is especially kept in mind.

On the same lines, an all blackout practice was also done in Punjab’s Ferozepur cantonment on Sunday and Monday night. During this, the electricity of the entire area was turned off and mock drill practice was done from 9:00 to 9:30.

The mock drill to be held on May 7 will be done in those states and districts. Which are the target of the enemy country during the war. Which includes the names of states like Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir.

How Is The Mock Drill Done

During the mock drill, sirens start ringing in a very loud voice. Which are played in 120 to 140 decibels. These sirens are played to warn of an attack. Which starts in a low voice and gradually becomes louder and then the voice becomes slow. During this time, people should take decisions wisely. Immediately go to a safe place and listen to the government’s orders through TV, government alerts and radio.

The Last Mock Drill Was Conducted In 1971

The last mock drill in India was conducted in 1971 during the Indo-Pak war. It has been almost 54 years since then. During this time, it was conducted to give information about the Indo-Pak war. Apart from India, many countries have been conducting civil mock drills from time to time. Among them, Canada (1942), America (1952) and Britain conducted mock drills in 1980.
