India New Digital Address System Digipin Will Replace PIN Code: How To Know Your Digipin

The Indian Postal Department has launched a new addressing system called ‘Digipin’. It aims to provide accurate digital addresses in the country. Till now, the PIN code of your area was written along with your address. But now this PIN code has been replaced by Digipin. Digipin has been prepared in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad and ISRO. The DIGIPIN system will provide accurate Digipin address to every corner of the country. Let’s know what Digipin is and how it is better and different from the PIN code.

Now your address will be identified not only by the Postal Index Number (PIN) code introduced in 1972 but also by Digital PIN or Digipin. The Postal Department is making vigorous preparations to prepare and implement Digipin. Digipin can be implemented across the country in the next three years. Its purpose is to provide the exact address of any corner of the country in digital form. Let us understand in detail what this new system is and how you can find your Digipin address.

What Is Digipin

Till now, four-digit PIN codes were written at the end of the address of any person to tell his home address. Which were provided by the Postal Department. These PIN codes provided information about the area or place, not about a person’s house or a particular place. To solve this problem, DIGIPIN has now been introduced.

Digipin is a digital location identity code. The whole country has been divided into many small parts of 4 meters * 4 meters. Each part has been given a special unique ID code. This code is called Digipin. Which will be of 10 digits. On the basis of which any corner of the country can be addressed accurately.

How Is Digipin Different From Pincode

The DIGIPIN System is completely different from the PIN code system. With DIGIPIN, any corner of the country can be identified. Whereas the PIN code only provided information about the area. That is, if a person has your PIN code, then it is possible that he may not be able to reach your house. But if he has your Digipin, then he can reach your house without any hassle. Digipin will directly benefit in online delivery service, postal service and other government services.

What Will Happen In The Future?

Although Digipin will be used along with PIN code for now, it can gradually become the standardized digital address of India. A time may come when it becomes mandatory to enter Digipin as address in identity cards. Its purpose is to provide the exact address of any corner of the country in digital form.

How To Find Your Digipin

To find your Digipin, you have to visit this link. After visiting the official website of DigiPin, you can enter your full address or GPS location there. After that the system will give you a 10-letter unique code according to your location. This will be the Digipin of your address. As mentioned earlier, this code shows the exact location. You can also use this Digipin in future for postal service, online delivery and government facilities.

Conclusion

The Postal Department has developed a web app with GNSS facility, the beta version of which has just been released. When this app is fully developed and made public, one can easily know his/her Digipin. There will be no need to login to the app for this. Digipin will also be used in the delivery of government services. If you have any question regarding this post, then you can tell us by commenting in the comment box given below.
